How to Improve Your Daily Skincare Routine
Our skincare routines are such an important part of our day-to-day life, but how often do we step back and analyze what's working and what isn't? Well, I did just that a few months ago and with some trial and error, I have now developed a daily skincare routine that works wonders for me. Today, I'm sharing a few tips on how to improve your daily skincare routine and my favorite 8 products that I could not live without!

How to Improve Your Skincare Routine:
1. Analyze your current routine
The first step in improving your routine is figuring out what's working and what's definitely not working for you. This may take a little time, but try taking some products out of your routine and seeing how your skin reacts. If your skin looks and feels better without it, it's time to ditch that product, girlfriend.
2. Research products online
One of my favorite hobbies is online shopping. I could spend hours browsing Sephora's skincare section, and you need to do the same! If you've been hearing about certain products that sound like they might work for you, look 'em up online and see what skin types they work for. My favorite thing to do is read the reviews of products, BUT if you do this, it's important to keep in mind that something that didn't work for someone else may work great for you.
3. Buy trial sizes
Rather than investing in a new product that might not work so well for you, see if you can purchase a sample size online or in stores. Sephora is great with this because they have TONS of trial sized products leading up to their cash registers (this is where I found the Tarte products mentioned below that I now love!). This way, if it doesn't work out, you won't feel as bad if you spent less money on it.
4. Stick with it for at least two weeks
Trying out your new products for at least two weeks is important because this is just enough time for your skin to show how it'll really respond to it. Of course, if you have an awful breakout or rash or something crazy like that after day 1, then by all means, drop that product for good! But if it seems to be working okay, keep at it for two weeks.
5. Take note of what's working/not working
After that two weeks is up, figure out what products are and are not working out for you. Do they make your skin clear? Hydrated? Dry? Oily? Take note of how your skin feels, how your makeup is staying on, what other products you might need to try out, and keep working at it until you find the routine that works for you!
My 8 Must-Have Skincare Products:
Tarte Frxxxtion Stick & Deep Dive Cleansing Gel
The Tarte Scrub Clean Cleansing Set from Sephora, which contains a cleansing gel, an exfoliating stick and a cleansing brush, is a travel-sized set for only $12.00. I figured I'd give it a try since the price was so affordable, but I didn't expect to love it as much as I do. I've been switching back and forth between the gel and stick each morning and I honestly can't wait to buy full-size versions of both. I especially love the Frxxxtion stick because it's so easy to use, great for travel since it's in stick form, and leaves my skin feeling incredibly smooth. Highly recommend starting your morning with these awesome Tarte skincare products!
Kopari Coconut Rose Toner
Once my skin is all fresh n clean, I spritz some of my new Kopari toner on my face and neck. I absolutely love the scent of this toner (I'm a sucker for rose-scented things) and how it helps tighten my skin and pores without leaving my face feeling dry or dehydrated. I love that this product is coconut-oil based because I know that it's helping to hydrate my incredibly dry skin and prepare it for moisturizer and makeup!
Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer
I've been using this moisturizer for about a year now and I will never ever ever use a different one. I went through a period of time where I really struggled to find a good face moisturizer — I needed something heavy-duty since I have dry skin, but most thicker formulas were making my skin break out. After a few weeks of using Aveeno's Clear Complexion moisturizer, I knew I'd found my holy grail. If you have dry or combination skin like me and are on the hunt for a good daily moisturizer, I encourage you to give this a try!
St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub
My go-to since high school, this apricot scrub is another product that I'll never give up. I use it about 4 times a week and I know without a doubt that this contributes to my (typically) clear skin. The deeply exfoliating product is made with natural ingredients and will instantly make your skin glow. This scrub never fails to shed my skin of all the dirt, oil and makeup from the day and reveal a soft, smooth and radiant face. If you feel like you need some deep exfoliation in your life, try this amazing product out!
Josie Maran Argan Oil Light
Each night, I go back and forth between two incredible Josie Maran Argan Oil products. First up is the light argan oil — a lightweight, quickly absorbing oil that'll deeply moisturize your skin. It's good for dry or oily skin and absorbs into skin with a semi-matte finish. I know that it can seem frightening to put literal oil on your face (trust me, I had nightmares of my face breaking out the first night I used this) but it works wonders! I like using it at night for deep hydration, but it can also be applied before makeup in the morning or by itself for a natural daytime look.
Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter
The other moisturizing product I use at night is Josie Maran's Whipped Argan Oil Face Butter. This incredibly lightweight formula will melt into your skin and seriously amp up the hydration! It's good for any skin type and helps fight dry skin, redness and fine lines and wrinkles (which is always a plus!). And it doesn't hurt that this product smells fantastic! For those nights when you feel like your skin needs a serious boost of hydration, you can pair this with the Argan Oil Light and wake up to a glowing, fresh face.
Herbivore Coco Rose Body Polish
When it comes to our skincare routines, it's important to show our body as much love as our faces! You already know by now, but I've been struggling with dry skin for my whole life so a good body scrub is a necessity for me — it helps slough away the dry skin and reveal the natural, smooth skin! I lovelovelove Herbivore's body polish because not only does it smell fantastic, but it's deeply exfoliating and moisturizing. I've found that those are the two most important qualities in a body scrub and if it's missing the hydration factor, then keep lookin' for a new product, girlfriend. This one will leave your skin feeling incredibly clean and exfoliated while also keeping it moisturized.
Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter
Can you tell that I'm 100% obsessed with Josie Maran's argan oil products? This body butter quickly absorbs into the skin and the creamy formula will definitely make your body feel way more hydrated. I absolutely love using this body butter on my arms and legs, throwing on a pair of sweatpants and a long-sleeve tee and letting the moisturizer work its magic all night long. You'll wake up to glowing, hydrated skin and you can thank me later 😉
