How to Initiate Personal Growth + Goals to Set For The Rest of The Year
When it comes to goal setting, we often forget how important it is to set goals that pertain to our personal growth. Instead, we tend to just graze the surface by setting goals about our health, fitness, career, or finances — all of which are incredible goals to set, of course, but when we fail to thoroughly find the "why" behind our goals first, they may not bring us the true happiness we’re searching for.
That’s why I’ve found that it’s SO important to set a few goals each year that’ll help initiate personal growth. And if you’re wondering how exactly to do that or what kind of goals you can set in order to help grow yourself, then keep on reading because today’s post will definitely help you out!
3 Tips to Initiate Personal Growth
1. Think about what’s important to you and what makes you TRULY happy
Spend some time thinking about what's most important to you when it comes to your lifestyle and wellbeing — is it learning, relationships, or mental wellness for example? Once you hone in on a few things that are super important to you, start thinking about goals you could set that would put those qualities at the forefront.
You can also think about things you enjoy doing and tasks that make you happy, and set goals around them. One example of this is the fact that I LOVE reading books — it relaxes me, teaches me new things and allows me to get out of my own head. That's why one of my goals for the rest of this year is to read a chapter each night!
2. Set specific, attainable goals based on personal growth
It might seem strange at first to set think about your goals in the context of personal growth, but once you realize just how important these goals are to you and exactly WHY accomplishing them will make you happy, you’ll feel a lot more confident in pursuing them. Set goals that are specific, attainable and measurable, and make sure they all come down to helping you grow into the person you hope to be… see the list of 10 goals below for an example and take what you need!
3. Remember that self-care is key
No matter what goals you set to initiate personal growth, always remember to take care of yourself first. As we set out to accomplish goals, it's TOO easy to get caught up in everything we hope to achieve — we could spend all day and night chipping away at work for a whole week and forget about our mental health and wellbeing in the process! Be sure to check in with yourself often to make sure that you're not overdoing it, and take breaks for self-care when necessary.
