How to Create the Daily Routine of Your Dreams

Happy Tuesday! Can you even believe that April is already here?! I feel like New Year’s Eve was just last night and we’re only just getting started on those 2018 goals of ours.

If we’re being TOTALLY honest, I’ve been preeettttyyy up and down with my resolutions for this year. One week I’m killin’ it with staying healthy, saving money, learning new things and the next I am just not. And that’s okay!

I’ve learned that a huge part of accomplishing our goals is creating healthy routines that will set us up for success. So now, I’m focusing on creating the daily routine of my dreams — and guys, I am freakin’ loving it. It’s so much simpler to reach your goals when you break it down to a day-to-day basis.

Trust me when I say that I’m definitely still working on it, but so far, developing a strong routine seems to be such a great method for creating a healthy and happy lifestyle that allows us to excel at hitting our goals. That’s why today, I’m sharing how exactly I went about creating and implementing the daily routine that makes me feel awesome!

BEFORE YOU START…

Before you start implementing awesome routines, take time to revisit your goals. Are there any big goals you’ve set for yourself that you can start building on today?

For example, one of my 2018 goals is to get into the habit of waking up at 5 A.M. Call me crazy but I know that mornings are when I thrive, so why not take advantage of it?! Anyway, I’m working on this larger goal by getting into the routine of waking up just 30 minutes earlier each week. And it’s making things SO much easier!

Want to get in the habit of exercising for an hour a day? Start out with just ten or fifteen minutes! It won’t seem like much at first but this will majorly help you get into the habit of exercising on the daily and you can build on it from there.

What goals can you break down into bite-sized daily tasks that you can work into your daily routine? Start working them in today, girlfriend!

Before you start out, it’s also a good idea to write down the daily routine that you think will work best for you. Seriously, write out everything you hope to accomplish on a daily basis from the minute you wake up in the morning until the second you close your eyes at night.

My dream routine includes things like doing yoga, making my bed and taking my vitamins in the mornings, making time for exercise and reading at night, and even a weekly face mask and room cleaning!

Spend some time thinking about what activities will bring you joy, clarity or focus throughout the day and write them into your daily routine! Once you’ve finished that, it’s time to get started!

LET’S GET STARTED…

On day one of your new routine, create a count down to 21 days — this can be on your phone, in a notebook, or a pretty calendar hanging in your room. They say that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit, so we’re gonna try it out!

Checking off each day on your calendar or seeing the days go by on your phone countdown will make you realize just how simple it is to do something for 21 days. Seriously, it goes by in the blink of an eye so ya might as well make those three weeks worth it!

Once you start implementing those awesome routines, make sure you take some time to check in with yourself along the way. You can jot your thoughts down in a notebook, type it out in the ‘notes’ app on your phone or simply just take some time to yourself to think about it.

What parts of your new routine are working out well for you? What’s maybe not going so great? Do you feel like you’re getting closer to your goals? If not, reevaluate and keep on going, girlfriend! You’ll get into these new habits and hit those goals in no time!
